Complete Backyard Remodel with Concrete, Curbing, River Rock, Plants & Irrigation in French Valley, CA

This yard needed a full reset along the fence and a cleaner path along the house. We rebuilt the space with new concrete, a continuous concrete curb, weed barrier, river rock, a simple plant row, and drip irrigation so it stays neat with very little upkeep.

We started by clearing everything and grading the area so water drains the right way. A concrete walk was poured along the house with a light broom finish for traction. Next, we formed and poured a continuous concrete curb along the fence line. The curb creates a strong, defined edge that separates the grass from the rock bed and gives the yard a clean, professional look. It also makes mowing easier and keeps everything in its place.

Inside the curb, we installed a commercial weed barrier and planted a straight row of hardy ornamental grasses, including green lomandra, purple fountain grass, and society garlic. Each plant was spaced evenly to allow room to grow, creating a clean, low-maintenance border that adds color and texture to the yard.

Once the plants were set, we covered the bed with mixed river rock. The rock sits flat on the fabric, looks clean year-round, and handles drainage so the area doesn’t turn muddy. 

Finally, we installed a drip irrigation system that runs the full length of the bed. Each plant gets direct watering at the roots, helping them stay strong and saving water at the same time. The system was tested and adjusted to make sure everything works evenly.

We wrapped up by cleaning edges, rinsing the new concrete, checking the irrigation, and making sure everything lined up from corner to corner.
