Dry Set
The stone is laid over a compacted base with sand or decomposed granite in the joints. Nothing is glued down.
- Costs less, since there is no concrete slab underneath.
- Water drains straight through instead of running off, which matters near pools and planters.
- Individual stones can be lifted and reset if one ever settles.
- Weeds and grass can work into the joints, so it needs occasional upkeep.
